Where technology meets art
Anthony Ortega New Dance - October 1966 + January 1967, Los Angeles, California
Reedman, Anthony Ortega is a musical wonder. Born to Mexican-American parents, he embodies all that came from the dark corridors of the underground jazz scene of the 50’s and 60’s Los Angeles. First introduced to Revelation Records by bassist Gary Peacock, Anthony recorded these stunning sessions in Revelation’s mountaintop studios with the brilliant and largely (now) unknown bassist, Chuck Domingo. From the gorgeous lament of the tune, “Sentimentalize” to the the brilliantly conceived and haunting, “Shadow of Your Smile”, this is a captivating session that only a spontaneous performance such as this can generate. The music was recorded on a 2-track Concertone tube tape deck. A rare performance, and a special one at that.
